CarnivalThanks to everyone who came out for Friday evening's 23rd annual King Open Carnaval! The event was a big success, we had a great crowd, a good time was had by all, and we raised over $1,400 for Friends of King Open. As with all of our King Open events, many people worked hard to make the fun happen.

The delicious Carnaval dinner was brought to you by Odete Silva with help from Issac in the KO cafeteria. Penny did the all-important Costco run for salad, lemonade, and fixings. The food was served by Odete, Neusa, Ana T., and a team of incredible parent and student helpers. Thanks also to the many King Open parents who donated amazing desserts and to Iggy's for the yummy bread.

CarnivalAnil was our Sinha Capoeira demonstration coordinator this year and he did a wonderful job. The performance/demonstration was very well received by the entire community and the King Open students were happy to participate on stage.

The mask making and face painting tables were very popular, as usual, and kept everyone very busy. The FOKO Runs team set up shop at a table next to the face painters and were able to promote the upcoming Ragnar race and recruit volunteers to help. Go FOKO Runs!

CarnivalAnother favorite Carnaval attraction is the raffle table. Thank you to all King Open families and friends who donated the amazing prizes we raffled this year and to everyone who bought raffle bags. Thanks to Maria Moniz and Neusa DaCosta for preparing the raffle papers and running the table with help from Angela A. and some wonderful (brave) parent volunteers. Ms. Rap created and ran her own Jewels for Justice table next to the raffle table.

A team of parents, teachers, and students decorated the cafeteria (and took it all apart when the party was over) and Jaime D. ran the registration table and Ted L. handled the money.

Thanks to all for this great team effort. We look forward to next year!
