Scholastic Learn at Home
Each morning at the same time school would normally begin, please invite your child to access the program by clicking here. Each day there is a fiction and nonfiction book about a topic. Please encourage your child to read along with the program. After the reading, there are several different activities to try.

The program also has a “watch and learn” option. Children are invited to watch a short video. Then there is a short quiz as well as some think sheets. We understand that it may be difficult to print these sheets so you might encourage your student to use the journal that went home with them on Friday, or a plain sheet of paper to share their thinking.
If you would like additional support using Scholastic Learn at Home, or any other resources, please email Literacy Coach Jaenine Rodriguez or Title One Teacher Ellen McLaughlin.

Overview of ELA Resources
Kindergarten-Second Grade, and Fifth Grade:
Students have access to RAZ Kids. RAZ Kids can be downloaded as an app, or used on a web browser. It allows students to listen to books, read them, and then take a check for understanding. As teachers, we can log into our accounts, track student progress, and assign specific books to read. Students can go up or down two reading levels at their convenience. If you have questions about RAZ Kids, please email Jaenine Rodriguez, King Open Literacy Coach. If your child has access to RAZ Kids, they will have brought home an information guide.
Kindergarten-Second Grade: Lexia can be accessed by an app, or web browser. Students have access to Lexia, which focuses on phonics and fluency. It is recommended that students use it for at least 20 minutes each day. All students with a license have the following login information: username: 7 digit school ID & password: abc123. If you need to provide an email for the first time you login, you may type in jcortazar@cpsd.us. Please email Jaenine with any questions on Lexia usage.

Overview of Math Resources
Students in grades K-5 regularly access Symphony Math both in school and at home. This program is designed to meet students at their own level, and adjusts as students make progress. Reflex Math is another computer program that is used primarily in grades 2-5, and is a fact fluency program. Additionally, three great math websites, that do not track students progress, have been recommended, including Greg Tang Math Games with games that are appropriate for grades JK-5, Bedtime Math which is designed to be done with families each day and is appropriate for grades JK-5, and TERC Investigations games which are leveled for grades K-5. If you have any questions about these websites or need student login information please email Kait Souza, Math Coach. View Math Resources and Programs >>

King Open Olá Program

Supporting Families Who Need Help
Finally, FOKO is launching an emergency fundraising campaign to buy grocery store gift cards for food for King Open families who need help. If you donate online or Venmo please indicate that this is for the emergency food drive. If you send a check, please write it out to Friends of King Open, indicate in the memo what it is for, AND you also need to either text or email Sarah (617.797.9540) and let her know how much it is for. Lastly, please contact Neusa DaCosta if you are worried about having enough food for your family.
