Tutoring Plus Programs
T+ offers 6 FREE tutoring and enrichment programs and serves over 200 students in grades 4-12 each academic year.

  • Regular One-on-One Elementary School Tutoring (gr. 4-5): Students are matched with one tutor for the academic year and meet once a week at King Open on Monday Nights. Students work on social and organizational skills from 5:30 - 6PM, and meet for homework assistance and general tutoring with their tutor from 6 - 7PM. T+ offers similar programs at the Fletcher-Maynard Academy and Cambridgeport Schools.

  • Regular One-on-One Middle School Program (gr. 6-8): This program runs similarly to the Elementary Program, but for 6-8th graders. T+ offers this program at King Open and the Fletcher-Maynard Academy.

  • Science Explorers (gr. 4-6): Students in this 8-week program learn that science is fun and its concepts simple through hands-on experiments led by MIT volunteers. This program is offered in the fall.

  • MCAS Math Preparation (gr. 4-6): Our MCAS Math Prep program helps students with math concepts and mastering word problems in preparation for the MCAS Math Test. Students meet for one-on-one tutoring on Tues. & Thurs. from 5:30 - 7PM for the 8 weeks before the test.

  • Girls, Media, & You (gr. 6-8) & Future Engineers (gr. 7-8): T+ also offers these two programs for Middle School Students. Girls, Media & You takes a group of girls to Lesley University to meet with current Lesley college students to talk about how women are portrayed in the media. Future Engineers gives students a chance to be inventors. Working in small teams, students find out what it’s like to be an engineer by researching, designing, prototyping, testing, and assembling a product.

Hours of Operation: Tutoring Plus Programs run from 5:30 - 7PM, Monday through Thursday at either the King Open, Cambridgeport, or Fletcher-Maynard Academy Schools.

Staff Ratio: From 5:30 - 6PM, the staff ratio is between 1:5 and 1:8. From 6 - 7PM all tutoring is 1:1 with volunteer tutors, with 2-3 staff always present.

Registration Procedures: Applications for all of our programs can be found in our office on the lower level of the Fletcher-Maynard School or online. We also provide King Open teachers and office with applications. Completed applications should be returned to our office.
